Announcing auditions for Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Festival Theatre’s very first installment of the Festival Theatre Summer Musical! This largescale musical production will include the talents of 20-30 local community actors as well as the debut of the 2023 Festival Theatre Professional Summer Company! This production will take place in the stunning new St. Croix Falls High School Performing Arts Center, which just opened this year! Performances will take place June 10th – June 18th, 2023.
Performances take place Fri – Sun, including afternoon matinees on both Sundays.
Rehearsals will start on or about the week of May 15th, 2023. Rehearsals will typically be held 4-5 days per week, to be scheduled weeknights 5:15pm-9:15pm and one weekend day, to be determined based on cast availability and conflicts.

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka
- Willy Wonka – (Age Range 20-50s.) The mysterious title character. He is charming, enigmatic, charismatic, and slightly sinister. A chocolatier who guides children and their parents on a tour of his factory. He is looking for someone new to take over his candy empire.
- Candy Man – (Age Range 20-50s.) A local candy vendor. He leads the children in praising the joys of candy.
- Phineous Trout – (Age Range 20-50) A reporter covering the Golden Ticket story.
- Charlie Bucket – (Age Range 9-18.) Our story's shy, earnest protagonist. From a modest home life, he is humble and noncompetitive while maintaining a sense of wonder about the world. One of the Golden Ticket winners whose honesty and general good nature win Wonka over.
- Mrs. Bucket – (Age Range 30-45) Charlie Bucket's nurturing mother. She is always trying to maintain an energetic positivity.
- Mr. Bucket – (Age Range 30-45) Charlie Bucket's nurturing father. He is always trying to maintain an energetic positivity.
- Grandpa Joe – (Age Range 50-80) A caring, patient, and kindhearted man. Loving Grandfather to Charlie Bucket. He accompanies Charlie to Willy Wonka's factory and it gives him a new burst of youthful vigor.
- Augustus Gloop – (Age Range 9-18) A gluttonous German boy. Cheerful and jolly, he defines himself by his ability to eat mass quantities of food. One of the Golden Ticket winners whose constant overeating is enabled and encouraged by Mrs. Gloop.
- Mrs. Gloop – (Age Range 30-60) A plump, jolly german woman with a bustling personality. Augustus Gloop's overindulgent mother.
- Veruca Salt – (Age Range 9-18) A wealthy, spoiled Brit. She is accustomed to having her father indulge her every whim and desire. One of the Golden Ticket winners, she is subjected to the squirrels' nut chute.
- Mr. Salt – (Age Range 30-60) A wealthy British upperclassman who regularly flaunts his wealth and privilege. Father to Veruca Salt who shamelessly spoils his daughter.
- Mike Teavee – (Age Range 9-18) An obnoxious, hyperactive child addicted to television, video games, and the internet. One of the Golden Ticket winners and Ms. Teavee's son.
- Ms. Teavee – (Age Range 30-60) An old-fashioned housewife. She is Mike Teavee's permissive and clueless mother.
- Violet Beauregarde – (Age Range 9-18) A brassy girl with a competitive streak. Violet seizes every opportunity to show off. She turns into a giant blueberry.
- Mrs. Beauregarde – (Age Range 30-60) Violet's enthusiastic "helicopter parent" who focuses all her attention on her daughter. She indulges Violet's worst competitive impulses.
- Ensemble – (Age Range 8-99) Kids; Cooks; Squirrels; Oompa-Loompas
