a peer to such names as Claudia Schmidt, Bill Morrissey,
Nanci Griffith, Shawn Colvin, and Mary Chapin-Carpenter,
sharing music that is not a trend, not a fad, but an expression
of everyday life.

Leo Kottke to Perform at Festival Theatre
Legendary
singer-songwriter Leo Kottke will perform at St. Croix Festival
Theatre on January 9th & 10th, 2009. The concert will
begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets $50 per seat.
“We’re
very pleased to be presenting Leo again,” said Danette
Olsen, Festival Theatre’s director. “Festival’s
season ticket holders have the first opportunity to purchase
tickets in the front five rows, but that leaves about 300
great seats available since the back row is only 70 feet
from the stage!. This is sure to be a stellar concert event.
We sold out months in advance of his February 2007 concert
and turned away hundreds of fans, so we’ve booked
a two night stand for 2009.”

office at 715-483-3387 or 888-887-6002.

Letters
from Lagos
Friday,
June 12th at 7:30pm
In
2006 Carrie Classon (co-founder of Festival Theatre) moved
to Lagos Nigeria with her deaf cat, Lucy. What happened
next—how she not only survived but transformed herself
and her life—will surprise you. Reserve your seat
now for this entertaining and uplifting evening of stories
and letters from Lagos.
“Lucy
spent her days getting wheeled about in a doll carriage
festooned with jingling scarves from Dubai like some sort
of feline pasha. I spent my days contemplating how I had
managed—in such a remarkably short time—to go
from a happily married businesswoman in Wisconsin to a homeless,
unemployed, single woman in Lagos, wanted by the Nigerian
police.”
Tickets
are $30.00 to benefit Festival Theatre’s Performing
Arts Fund

Shawn
Colvin
Friday,
August 21st
8:30 pm
Festival
Theatre is proud to present Shawn Colvin for a Special Event
Concert in August!
Colvin
may be best known for her Grammy Award-winning 1996 album
“A Few Small Repairs” which include the single
“Sunny Came Home” which won the Grammy for Song
of the Year and was Colvin’s first song to reach the
Top Ten in the United States.
Shawn
Colvin was born in South Dakota and raised in Illinois,
where she began playing guitar when just ten-years old.
Her first public concert was at age 15 on the campus of
the Univeristy of Illinois-Carbondale. Colvin cites Jonie
Mitchell as a primary music influence. In the late 1970’s,
Colvin began working in the music scene in earnest, first
in Austin, TX and then nationally. She moved to New York
City in 1980 and has performed with an amazing array of
musicians (John Hiatt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Bruce
Hornsby to name a few), but has also performed on television
– even on “The Simpsons” and singing “I
Don’t Want to Live on the Moon” with Ernie on
Sesame Street.
Once
called an “archetypal folkie” by People Magazine
(1996), that reviewer went on to say “In today’s
pops world, populated by cartoonish rappers, grunge rock
poseurs and annoying techno-sweebs, a lone woman with an
acoustic guitar can sound downright innovative.” We
couldn’t agree more and we know that the Festival
Theatre stage is the ideal place to hear Shawn Colvin.
Tickets
go on sale June 15th and are $55.00.
(Flex Passes may not be used for this Special Event).
