About Brian Wicklund:
Brian Wicklund is a St. Croix Valley native and internationally-known fiddler. Growing up, Wicklund had an intense interest in music, and began violin lessons at the age of seven. He continued to take lessons, listened to banjo records, and taught himself the banjo through instructional books his father brought home. At age eleven, Wicklund met bluegrass and folk musicians, practiced his skills, and began winning fiddle competitions. In high school, he continued playing with various bands. In college, Wicklund was granted the opportunity to play with the Stoney Lonesome as a much needed fiddle player. This professional exposure was the start of Wicklund’s music career.
For over thirty years, Wicklund has played with a plethora of groups, produced albums, and created the American Fiddle Method series and Fiddle Pal Explore series. For the past six years, Wicklund has taught his musical knowledge to younger generations in his Fiddle Pal Camps. These camps have become wildly successful for aspiring musicians; so much so that the camps have expanded this year from the original Stillwater, Minnesota location to locations in Wisconsin and Massachusetts. These camps include four days of instruction from master musicians from around the country. Children are instructed on music including fiddles, violas, cellos, mandolins, guitars and basses. When Wicklund is not active in his summer camps, he spends time with family, and travels with his latest group: The Fiddle Masters.
