The Creativity Camps are environmentally-themed, multi-arts day camps and will be held at St. Croix Falls, WI July 6 -10 and August 3 -7; Grantsburg, WI July 20 – 17 (new addition); Clear Lake, WI July 13 – 17; Luck, WI August 10 -14 . Creativity campers experience joy in exploring their unique creative impulses and gain confidence for life. The Campers will work in four artistic disciplines each day: visual art, drama, literary arts, and creative movement. Youth will participate in book making, storytelling, poetry, journaling, play acting, imaginative prop play, drama exercises, vocal technique, kinesthetic expression, drawing, painting, sculpture, and puppetry.
Teaching artists from around the country who perform in Festival Theatre's summer repertory, these camps emphasize solid instruction in proper technique and a child's personal satisfaction with his/her work. "We believe learning through the arts develops individuals that are team players, innovative thinkers, multi-versed interpreters, and compassionate, tolerant members of society," states Seth Kaltwasser, Festival Theatre actor and teaching artist. "Socially, intellectually, creatively, and emotionally, individuals who experience the arts on a regular basis are better equipped to meet the challenges of our changing world." He adds, "It's also a whole lot of fun!" Fees for the camp are only $85 per week per child which includes all supplies. Creativity Camp is held Monday through Friday 8:30-3:30 for ages 5-12 and sharing for parents and friends will be held Fridays at 2:00 pm.
Also, Festival will be offering mini creativity camps at local libraries, check your library for dates. These mini camps are free, one day only and are a great opportunity for your child to be introduced to the arts and run about an hour.
Festival Theatre is able to offer affordable youth programs thanks to our lead Corporate Youth and Family Sponsor, Royal Credit Union; Festival has also received funding from the St. Croix Valley Foundation and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
