You are invited to witness improv night every Friday until August 12 at 9:00 pm at the Franklin Square Black Box. The show will last at least one hour and the café will be open for those seeking refreshments during the show. The cost is $5.00 per person.

The show consists of all Festival Theatre summer staff (including cast members you saw in Clue: The Musical and Private Lives) and the games vary each week, so you will see a different and unique show every week.
Festival Theatre uses Improv as part of the Interns Theatre training. Improv allows artists to build on their “on-the-spot” acting skills by being faced with opportunities to listen to other artists and execute enjoyable lines without previous preparation. So, please support the growth of Festival’s artists by coming to each Friday improv night this summer and enjoy the unscripted madness that leaves you asking for more.

Festival Theatre Presents: Private Lives on Saturday, July 2nd at 7:30 pm in the Franklin Square Black Box

Festival Theatre would like to invite you to see Private Lives by Noel Coward starting July 2nd and endingAugust 21 at the Franklin Square Black Box. Tickets are $26.00 for adults and $13.50 for youth (ages 5-25). They may be purchased from the box office at festivaltheatreboxoffice@gmail.com, or at 715-483-3387.

Directed by Cory Johnson a returning guest director of Festival's, Private Lives is the story of Elyot and Amanda who divorced five years ago and have both recently married again. Problems arise when we learn they are both on honeymoons with their new spouses in adjacent suites at a resort in Southern France. When Elyot and Amanda learn of each other’s presence, old flames are ignited and a whirlwind of events take place that leave all involved in a tangle of emotions.

Private Lives is host to some of Festival's resident company actors like interim artistic director Andrew Bradford Benson and arts education coordinator Elizabeth Albers. You will also find some of the summer company faces like Joshua Weisenburger and Marjorie Gast.

We offer you one rule of caution; this show contains language and situations that are not appropriate for young children. Stage manager, Abi Leveille, describes Private Lives as a “true romantic comedy” with its talented cast engaging in a unique interplay of comedic violence and sexual innuendos. The director of Private Lives is Cory Johnson, professor of theatre at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA and enjoys these plays that “poke fun at ‘people of leisure’ who have little else to do, but decide on where next to dine or travel. Characters in such plays often try to maintain the mask of social artifice while simultaneously revealing to the audience what lies behind such manners.” Diving into this world of privileged 1930s newlyweds brings the audience into a comedic world behind the superficial manners society expects of them. Keep Johnson’s thoughts in mind as you enjoy the irreverent dazzling of Private Lives.

Festival Theater Presents: Brian Wicklund and His Fiddle Masters on Friday, June 17th  2016, 8:00 PM at the Osceola High School Auditorium, lead by Brian Wicklund, The Fiddle Masters are coming to illustrate their latest pieces. First performed with Festival Theater in 2014, this concert continues to be a best seller. This year, Wicklund is bringing his world-renowned string masters to dazzle music enthusiasts in the area once again. Wicklund will be joined this year by Katie McNally, Natalie Padilla, Shauncey Ali, Joe K. Walsh, Mike Cramer, and Kevin Rowe. This grouping of artists changes every year to offer a truly authentic concert experience. Not only will Wicklund showcase these newly discovered and talented fiddlers, but their performance also marks the kick-off of Festival Theater’s eventful 2016 summer season.
Tickets are available through Festival Theater in advance ($26.00) either online at festivaltheatre.org and at the door ($35.00) . Be sure to come support Festival Theater’s presentation of The Fiddle Masters, and enjoy the show; their diverse talents are sure to enchant all.
About Brian Wicklund:
Brian Wicklund is a St. Croix Valley native and internationally-known fiddler. Growing up, Wicklund had an intense interest in music, and began violin lessons at the age of seven. He continued to take lessons, listened to banjo records, and taught himself the banjo through instructional books his father brought home. At age eleven, Wicklund met bluegrass and folk musicians, practiced his skills, and began winning fiddle competitions. In high school, he continued playing with various bands. In college, Wicklund was granted the opportunity to play with the Stoney Lonesome as a much needed fiddle player. This professional exposure was the start of Wicklund’s music career.
For over thirty years, Wicklund has played with a plethora of groups, produced albums, and created the American Fiddle Method series and Fiddle Pal Explore series. For the past six years, Wicklund has taught his musical knowledge to younger generations in his Fiddle Pal Camps. These camps have become wildly successful for aspiring musicians; so much so that the camps have expanded this year from the original Stillwater, Minnesota location to locations in Wisconsin and Massachusetts. These camps include four days of instruction from master musicians from around the country. Children are instructed on music including fiddles, violas, cellos, mandolins, guitars and basses. When Wicklund is not active in his summer camps, he spends time with family, and travels with his latest group: The Fiddle Masters.

The internationally popular board game is transformed into a fun-filled musical, which brings the world's favorite game pieces to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery: who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room and with what weapon. Three audience members choose the potential murderers, weapons, and rooms; there are over 200 possible solutions! Only one hard-nosed, female detective is qualified to unravel the merry mayhem. Clue, the Musical is now in rehearsal as Festival Theatre’s first production of the summer and will be performed at the Taylors Falls Memorial Community Center. Written by Peter DePietro, with music by Galen Blum, Wayne Barker, and Vinnie Martucci, and lyrics by Tom Chiodo and based on the Parker Brothers’ Board Game, Clue promises to be fun for the whole family.

The members of this year’s summer company arrived last week to begin their work on the summer repertory season, which will also include productions of Private Lives and Steel Magnolias. This summer brings back some of Festival’s favorite guest artists, including Jaclyn June Johnson, Festival’s former Artistic Director, who will be playing Mrs. Peacock; Daniel Olson, who appeared in Festival’s production of Man of La Mancha, is returning to play Mr. Boddy; and Mark Baer returns for his sixth summer as a guest artist to directClue.

“It has been a joy to have these three artists back at Festival to work on this show. They all bring the highest level of professionalism and have a true understanding of what our audiences look for in a Festival production,” said Andrew Bradford Benson, Festival’s Interim Artistic Director. “And the other cast members are keeping pace wonderfully, bringing so much energy and creativity to their work. It is a pleasure working with all of them!”

Clue, the Musical opens Saturday, June 18th at 7:30 PM and plays through August 14th. Tickets are $26.00 Adult and $13.50 Youth (ages 5-25), and this show is flex pass eligible.  Clue, the Musical will perform at the Taylors Falls Memorial Community Center.

Group discounts are available, contact the Box Office for more information. The Festival Theatre Box Office is located in downtown St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin at 125 North Washington Street in the Franklin Square Building across from Tangen Drug.  Tickets may be ordered by phone (715) 483-3387 or at festivaltheatre.org.Sign up to receive Festival's weekly emails for up-to-the-minute announcements and promotions.
